8 March 2025 - Day 17 Fort Lauderdale and Cruise

Adelaide to Sydney

Fort Lauderdale and the Oasis of the Seas. Woke this morning fairly early as our Uber will be here around 10:30. Last breakfast in Miami, finish packing and down to wait for the Uber.
It’s a 50 min drive to Fort Lauderdale and our driver doesn’t speak very good English. Something we found in Florida, most Uber drivers are Cuban with quite poor English.
Arrive at the Port Evergreen to embark our ship, Royal Caribbeans’ Oasis of the Seas.
It’s a big ship.
We hand over our large luggage to the porters, telling them our stateroom number and away we go.
Our boarding time was 1:30 pm but because Janine had purchased ‘The Key’ we could get on immediately and bypass most of the lineup.
Boarding was easy, show your Passport and Visa, go through screening and walk on board. Go find you mustering station and login and that’s it.
Wandered around the ship to check out the sites as our stateroom won’t be ready until around 1pm. Had a cup of nearly OK coffee.
Check out our Stateroom. Pretty good. Lots of storage space, a nice king size bed and a big balcony. BUT no USB charging ports and only 2 usable power points. Well there’s 3 but after you put in the AUS/US adaptor there’s 2. And they’re not by the bed.
Arranged a couple of shows for the cruise, booked restaurants, and changed our dining time in the Main Dining Room. Unpacked.
Around 5pm the ship departs and we are on our 9 day Caribbean Cruise. We’ve got 2 days sailing before our first port of call, St Kitts.
